Wasily Tropinin

Wasily Andreevich Tropinin (1776-1857) nació en Rusia en 1776. Pintor estilo Romántico. Fue durante la mayor parte de su vida criado. Al nacer fue “siervo” del Conde Munnich y posteriormente fue cedido como parte del ajuar de la hija de este, al Conde Morkows. No obtuvo su libertad hasta que tuvo más de 40 años. Algunas de sus obras más importantes son el retrato de Alexander Pushkin y los cuadros “The lace maker” y “The Gold-Embroideres". A lo largo de su vida pintó más de 3.000 retratos. En 1969 se abrió en Moscú el Museo Tropinin.

Was a Russian Romantic painter (1776-1857). Much of his life was spent as a serv; he didn't obtained his freedom until he was more than forty years old. Three of his more important works are a portrait of Alexander Pushkin and paintings called The Lace Maker and The Gold-Embroideress.

Vasily was born as a serfvof Count Munnich in the village Karpovka of Novgorod guberniya and then transferred to Count Morkovs as a part of the Munich's daughter's dowry. During his life Tropinin painted more than 3000 portraits. In 1969 the Tropinin museum was opened in Moscow.
