Caspar Nestcher

(Heidelberg, 1639-La Haya, 1684) Neerlandés de origen alemán, pintor de retratos y escenas de género. Era muy bueno pintando alfombras orientales, seda y brocados. Fue discípulo de G. Ter Borch, para quien probablemente trabajo como asistente, aparece varias veces como modelo en la pinturas de su maestro. El hábito de introducir figuras femeninas, vestidas en lustroso satén fueron imitadas de su maestro. Murió prematuramente en La Haya en 1684.

Caspar (or Gaspar) Netscher (1639 – January 15, 1684) was a Dutch portrait and genre painter. He was a master in depicting oriental rugs, silk and brocade. He was Ter Borch's most gifted pupil, probably worked as an assistant as well and he appears several times as a model on Ter Borch's paintings. The habit of introducing female figures, dressed in glossy satins, were imitated from Ter Borch. He died prematurely in 1684, in The Hague.
