Max Liebermann (1847-1935)
Pintor Judio Alemán más conocido por sus grabados y litografias. Hijo de un hombre de negocios Berlinés. Primero estudio Leyes y Filosofía y más tarde Pintura y Dibujo. Utilizando su herencia se hizo con una importante colección de obras de Impresionistas Franceses. Se hizo famoso por sus retratos. Desde 1920 a 1933 fue Presidente de la Academia Prusiana de las Artes pero renunció a su cargo cuando la Academía decidió no volver a exponer cuadros de pintores Judios.
Se conviritío en un exponente del Impresionismo alemán . Está enterrado en Berlín.
En 1940 su viuda Martha Liebermann fue obligada a vender la villa familiar en Berlín. En 1943 con 85 años y postrada en cama por un ataque, le comunicaron que se preparara para ser deportada a un campo de concentración. Se suicidó en su domicilio. Hay una placa suya delante de su cada junto a la Puerta de Brandenburgo.
Se conviritío en un exponente del Impresionismo alemán . Está enterrado en Berlín.
En 2006 la Sociedad Max Liebermann abrió un museo permanente en la Villa familiar en Berlín.

Max Liebermann (1847–1935) was a German-Jewish painter, best known for his etching and lithography.
The son of a Jewish businessman from Berlin, Liebermann first studied law and philosophy at the University of Berlin, but later studied painting and drawing.
He used own inherited wealth to assemble an impressive collection of French Impressionist works. In Berlin, he became a famous painter of portraits. Beginning in 1920 he was president of the Prussian Academy of Arts. In 1933 he resigned when the academy decided to no longer exhibit works by Jewish artists. Became an exponent of German Impressionism. Liebermann's grave in Berlin.
On April 30, 2006, the Max Liebermann Society opened a permanent museum in the Liebermann family's villa in the Wannsee district of Berlin. The artist's wife, Martha Liebermann, was forced to sell the villa in 1940. On March 5, 1943, at the age of 85 and bedridden from a stroke, she was notified to get ready for deportation to Theresienstadt concentration camp. Instead, she committed suicide in the family home, Haus Liebermann, hours before police arrived to take her away. There is a stolperstein for her in front of their former home by the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
