Es el no va más de los Encajes de Brujas. Pertenece al grupo de los Encajes Continuos.

No podemos hablar de un fondo enrejado específico, sino de diversos fondos utilizados entre los diferentes diseños, que se trabajan a Punto Entero o a Medio Punto.

Tiene un aspecto muy delicado debido al uso un tipo de hilo muy fino.

Para adornar el encaje se utilizan diversos puntos como el típico "copo de nieve" y los guipures cuadrados.

Los diseños utilizados suelen ser figuras humanas, animales, flores, zarcillos y todo tipo de pequeños diseños para rellenar los espacios libres.

Binche lace is the highest peak and the triumph of the lace-making art of Bruges. It belongs to the continuous threads technique.

There is no a single distinctive reseau, but instead a wide variety of grounds around the motifs, which themselves are worked in wholestitch, or in halfstitch the complicated and diaphanous decorations sometimes appear confused, and give to the whole an impression of antiquity.

The working of Binche lace, and especially of « point de fée » is a speciality of Bruges.

The most noticeable elemens of the design are the square point d’esprit (tallies), and the varied snow-grounds (fonds de neige).

It can be composed with animal scenes or figures, it's named "point de fée" (fairy stitch) because of the difficulty almost extraordinary of its realization.
